JEFF SILVER Age 62, died at his home in Riverside, CA on Tuesday, July 16, 2013. He was born in Long Beach, CA on July 20th and moved to Riverside in 1954. As a teacher for 30 years in the RUSD, he had a deep belief in the importance of learning, especially in guiding the student who needed extra direction. He was known for his generosity and loyalty to his friends and for his humor and sarcasm, which employed a large and wonderful vocabulary. He truly enjoyed analyzing statistics, talking to people in the know, and using his gut instincts to place a bet. He loved the beach, the animals in it, the air, and the solitude. This was his dream. He asked for no service after his death because he was a man who didn't like a fuss being made over him. He would much prefer to be remembered placing a bet at the track or surf-fishing in Carlsbad. He is survived by his sister, Jennifer, her husband, Greg, his niece and nephew, Danica and Spencer, his aunt, Lil Harvill, and his great friend and confidant, Emma Ruiz. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Ramona High School Athletic Hall of Fame, c/o John Tibbels, 7675 Magnolia Ave., Riverside, CA 92504.
