Leonard Edwin Cancilla(1920 - 2013)

LEONARD EDWIN CANCILLA Age 93, passed away at home at Sunset Village, Hemet, CA on November 22, 2013. He was born on March 16, 1920 in Chicago, IL and had lived in Hemet, CA for 23 years. He was raised on a small farm in Chino, CA where he had lived for 22 years. He had previously lived in San Jose, CA for 50 years. He attended Chino High School, Chino, CA from 1934-1938. He served in the Army/Air Corp from 1942 to 1946. He was honorably discharged as a Tec 5. He was honored with a WWII Victory Medal, American Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 1 bronze star and Good Conduct Medal AR-600-68. He worked for Continental Can Company in San Jose, CA and retired after 30 years. He was a member of The Eagles Lodge from 1965 to 1975. Leonard is survived by his daughter Carolyn Yellis of Anaheim, CA; son Edwin Cancilla of Placerville, CA; sisters Mary Persinski of Santa Clara, CA and Jayne Whiteside of Escondido, CA; 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and great nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 29, 2013 at 3pm followed by a Funeral Service at 4pm, both at Arlington Mortuary, 9645 Magnolia Ave., Riverside, CA 92503.
