Rene Louis Champagne(1926 - 2013)

RENE LOUIS CHAMPAGNE Age 87. Former Murrieta resident, Rene Louis Champagne, went to be with the Lord on November 7, 2013, while residing at Valencia Terrace in Corona, CA. There will be a Memorial Service at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Corona, CA on Thursday, November 21st, at 10:00 a.m., and the interment at Riverside National Cemetery, followed by a Celebration of Life with family and friends. Mr. Champagne was born on April 14, 1926 in Long Beach, Calif., to Rene and Alice Champagne. Rene is survived by his sons Paul, Mark (and Anne), and Philip (and Holly) Champagne; daughter Cecilia (and Paul) Shampay; 7 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 7 of his siblings, Marjorie Hayes, Kenneth (Eloise), Maurice (Chiyoko), Donald (Althea), Armand (Rosemary), Thomas, and Alice Champagne. He was preceded in death by his wife, Arline, son Joel, and 3 brothers Raymond, Dennis, and Armand Thomas Champagne. Rene enjoyed making people laugh with his amazing wit, and poetry that touched many lives. He loved building things from a train that he built as a very young boy to custom dollhouse furniture he designed over the last few years of his life. After retiring as an Auto Body & Fender Repair Professor at Mt. San Jacinto College in Hemet, he spent time building his own home with help from all of his friends and family a true labor of love for all involved. He served in the Navy and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name Society. He made lifelong friends in a 20-30 club and was very involved in numerous functions at church where he loved to attend daily. He was a Boy Scout Leader for many years, and loved camping with his family and friends. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
