Richard George and Janyce Louise Nist

RICHARD GEORGE NIST Mar. 19, 1929 - Nov. 22, 2013 Aged 84 Born in Dormont, PA to Esther Susan McAdams & Louis Nist died in Riverside, CA due to prostate cancer. JANYCE LOUISE NIST Apr. 30, 1933 - Apr. 17, 2008 Aged 74 Born in Loveland, OH to Anna Louise Hubeler & George S. Jackson died in Riverside, CA due to lung cancer. Richard served proudly in the USAF as a senior aircraft mechanic working on B-29's from 1948-52. He was stationed at March AFB in Riverside, CA, attached to the 22nd Bomb Group, traveling on temporary duty to England and to Kadena AFB in Okinawa during the Korean War. He received a Korean Service Medal with 3 stars and a medal for good conduct. Richard married Janyce on Jan. 11, 1952 in Riverside, moving back to Dormont briefly where he worked as a police officer. They moved back to California and warmer weather after one winter in Pennsylvania. In Riverside, Richard worked as an ambulance driver, before being hired at UC Riverside as a police officer in 1956. He retired as a Lieutenant, filling in several times as an interim Chief. Janyce worked at the Riverside County Court House for several years, which we kids knew as the "Cork House", until finances allowed her to be a full time mom. They both will be missed by all who knew and loved them. Richard and Janyce were preceded in death by their parents, daughter Becky Jean Nist, and their granddaughter Lisa Marie LaCava. They are survived by their children William George Nist (Mari) of Clayton, CA; Linda Susan Hermes (Bob) of Bonney Lake, WA; Ann Louise Nist (Dale) of Menifee, CA; grandchildren: Cristina Ann LaCava, Renee Yvette Rocha, Sara Jean Nist & Ryan Richard Nist. Richard is also survived by his sisters Virginia "Butzie" Matvey, Gladys Dixon & Kathryn Mason. Interment at Riverside National Cemetery, January 17, 2014.
