Richard Hugh Austin(1960 - 2013)

RICHARD HUGH AUSTIN Richard Hugh Austin was born in Kansas on August 11, 1960 and passed away unexpectedly on October 26, 2013, at his home in Riverside. He is predeceased by his parents, Harold D and Frances B. Austin, and is survived by his brother Jim; sisters Kim (Lee) Wakefield and Lynn Austin; nephews Michael, Logan, Jacob and Joshua; his paternal aunt Velda Reay, and many loving cousins. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A graduate of Riverside Poly, class of 1978, Rick received his Bachelor's Degree from Cal State San Bernardino and became a credentialed teacher in Special Education. He taught at many schools throughout Riverside, helping children with various educational challenges, and spent two years in Jiangmen, China as an English instructor. He loved hunting, fishing, and classic muscle cars, taking automotive classes and working in the Tool Room for the Auto Tech Department at RCC. He loved sports and coached football at many local high schools over the years, and also spent a season coaching girls softball. At the time of his passing, he was thrilled to be the Head Coach of the freshman football program at J.W. North. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 16th, at 11 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, 5969 Brockton Avenue, in Riverside. In lieu of flowers, his family respectfully requests that donations be made in his name to the Carolyn E. Wylie Center for Children, Youth and Families located in Riverside. www.wyliecenter.org,
