RICHARD LEROY BARRATT November 25, 1919-January 15, 2013 Dick (Leroy to his family) passed away in Loma Linda on January 15, 2013, at the age of 93. He was born November 25, 1919, in Akron, Ohio, to Roy and Edith Barratt. He grew up in Buechel, Kentucky, and graduated from Fern Creek Traditional High School in 1938. During World War II
, Dick served in the Army
Air Corps. As a waist gunner on a B-24 Liberator, he flew over 35 missions and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. On October 29, 1944, Dick married his high school sweetheart, Evelyn. They had one daughter, Terry. Dick attended the University of Louisville, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He headed to Southern California where he began his career with Northrup, a company he loved. He enjoyed his position as a Technical Representative and the places it took him, particularly the Far East. In 1972, Dick married his second wife, Phyllis. Dick and Phyllis shared a love of travel. They went to such diverse locations as Europe, Alaska, the Caribbean, South America and Australia. Dick enjoyed drawing and photography. He was a voracious reader of mysteries and suspense novels. He also enjoyed working crossword puzzles. Dick was predeceased by both Evelyn and Phyllis, as well as his brothers Edgar Carlos and Howard Bruce. He is survived by his sister, Lois, and his daughter Terry (Glenn). He is also survived by his grandchildren Matthew (Megan), Lisa and Caitlin (Hayden).
