William H. Bonnett Jr.

WILLIAM H. BONNETT, JR. Age 89, passed away on Oct. 31, 2013. Bill was a fourth-generation resident of Riverside and a graduate of Riverside Poly High School. He attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo intermittently due to the outbreak of World War II and the birth of his first son. Bill served in the Navy during the war. He flew cover over the USS Missouri during the treaty signing for the surrender of the Japanese in Tokyo Harbor. For most of his life Bill was a citrus grower and farm manager. He retired from Royal Citrus Co. at age 67. Bill loved going on fishing trips to Mexico. He enjoyed skiing, boating, and camping at Lake Mead with his sons, family, and friends. After retirement he spent his time reading novels, traveling with his wife, Jackie, and being an armchair sports fan (especially of golf and baseball). Bill passed away just six weeks after his wife of 67 years, Jackie Bonnett. He leaves behind three sons in Riverside: William H. Bonnett, III (Judi), Mark Bonnett, (Karlene), and Robert Bonnett (Lesly). He also leaves behind ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces.
