Ruby Danieri Obituary

RUBY GOODE DANIERI Lifelong Corona resident Ruby Virginia Danieri, née Goode, passed away peacefully at her home September 7 after a long illness. Her children and long-time caregiver were at her bedside. Ruby was a true child of Corona, born at the Jameson Ranch on 4 December 1922. She graduated from Corona High School in 1940, soon after attending the local premiere of one of her favourite movies, Gone With the Wind. She dated her high school sweetheart, Joe Danieri, often sharing an ice cream sundae at the Mava, listening to the Big Bands and attending local dances. They married in 1941 and her residence in Corona was interrupted only in those years when she traveled to Army bases with Joe until he was shipped to Europe in WWII. Many in the community will remember Ruby from her work at the First Trust Bank. She was a member of the Degree of Pocahontas service club and a member of their Thursday night bowling league. She had perfect form and a pretty decent average. For a number of years she was a volunteer at Circle City hospital. Her life, though, was at its richest when she was with her family. She was a loving and supporting wife to Joe until his death in 2007. They both enjoyed the music of their generation, went to movies together and were known to cut quite a rug at Elk\'s Club dances. She was one of the leaders of the Brownies and the Girl Scouts and a den mother for the Cub Scouts; she was often the class mom, a member of the PTA and went on countless field trips. She was there when her two children came home from school for lunch and, most of all, was always there for them and, later, for their children. She was loved by many and will be remembered by family, friends and acquaintances as unassuming, kind and with a gentleness of spirit. Predeceased by Joe and daughter-in-law Alexis Danieri, she is survived by her son Ron Danieri of Corona, daughter Cheryl and son-in-law Barrie Ratcliffe of Cambridge, Ontario Canada; her grandchildren Avery and Stephan Danieri of Corona, Ben and Josh Ratcliffe of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Aby Ratcliffe and great-grandchildren Tristan and Charlotte Ratcliffe Lambert of Quebec City and her caregiver Paulita Sagun of Corona. She will also be missed by nieces, nephews and cousins too numerous to name. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the Corona Regional Hospice for their unobtrusive efficiency delivered with sensitivity and kindness. As she lived, she passed gently into that good night.... Funeral services will be held Thursday September 16 at 10 am at Thomas Miller Mortuary, 1118 East Sixth St, Corona. Visitation immediately preceding from 9 am. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a contribution to the Corona Regional Hospice or National Parkinson Foundation 800-327-4545, www.parkinson.org. Arrangements Entrusted To: FD66-(951) 737-3244 To sign the online guest book, go to www.ThomasMillerMortuary.com.

Ford Street won't be the same without this great woman. May you rest in peace, Mrs. Danieri. I have many memories of the soft spoken mother of one of my childhood friends. You always made me feel at home when I visited.

My prayers are with your family at this time of loss. Your mother was a gentle woman; I always remember her smiling at the house when you (we) would come home from school, Cheryl. The Ford Street era ends.

There are no better words to describe your Mother than, "unassuming, kind and with great gentleness of spirit." I will always remember her with a smile on her face.
