Katherine Webb Obituary

KATHERINE COUNTS WEBB Passed away on October 27, 2010, surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of Matt Webb and the devoted mother of Emily and James. Katy was born on February 14, 1959 in Denver, Colorado to parents Ruth and Tom Counts. She attended Stanford University where she met Matt; she graduated in 1981 with a Bachelor\'s Degree in Economics. Following graduation Katy moved to Southern California, pursued a career in accounting, and was employed by Hunter Engineering for many years. She and Matt were married in 1985. Katy was an active member of the Riverside community. She held leadership positions with the Riverside County Philharmonic, National Charity League, Junior League, and California Riverside Ballet. She was elected to the Riverside County Republican Central Committee in 1988, and was a devoted supporter of the Riverside Poly High School Mock Trial team. Katy leaves many dear family members: her husband Matt, daughter Emily and son James. She is also survived by her brothers, Tom Counts of Oakland, California and Chuck Counts of Littleton, Colorado, as well as many nieces and nephews. A great lover of books, Katy read voraciously and annually attended the Literary Women Long Beach Festival of Authors. In the words of her favorite line from the Odyssey, Katy has joined "the child of morning, rosy-fingered Dawn.." A memorial service will be held at 2:30pm on Friday, November 5, 2010 at Calvary Presbyterian Church, 4495 Magnolia Avenue. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Arrangements under the direction of Acheson & Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary (951) 688-1221 www.achesonandgraham.com

Dear Webb Family,

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Katy's spirit and strength were an inspiration to all of us who were lucky enough to call her our friend.

Katy was smart, magnetic, generous and original. She was completely present and committed to the moment wherever we were. Some of my best memories are from time we spent at camp and the St. Thomas youth group, though just walking to her house after school was a blast.

I hope you find comfort in knowing how many people Katy touched.

Dear Emily and James,
Your mother was a dear friend of mine and of the Tooley clan from age 11. Although we unfortunately saw little of each other after we each headed off to college, she always had and always will have a special place in my heart. I lost my own father to cancer when he was 51 and I know how hard all of this is. My heartfelt condolences and wishes are with you, your father, and your family. We loved your mother.
