PAUL HEATH TROTTA, M.D. August 13, 1926 May 13, 2014 Paul Trotta was born at Riverside Community Hospital to Maude and Frank P. Trotta on one of the hottest days of that year. He was an Eagle Scout member of Troop 13. After graduating from Riverside Polytechnic High School in 1944, he attended the University of California, Berkeley as a participant in the Navy V-12 program. Paul graduated from the University of California, San Francisco Medical School in 1950, married Marian Card, and relocated to Spokane, where he served as a flight surgeon in the Air Force 216 Fighter Wing, 27th Air Division. After completing his internship and residency at UCSF, they returned to Riverside, where he practiced medicine for the next 40 years as a general, thoracic and vascular surgeon. As a Fellow, American College of Surgeons, and Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery, Paul practiced at Riverside Community Hospital, Riverside County Hospital and Loma Linda University School of Medicine. Paul's interests were many. He enjoyed hiking, fishing and camping with his family, duck hunting, good food of all sorts, Italian opera, and in his later years, work on the Poly High School Reunion Committee. Paul also volunteered as a member of the Human Subjects Committee of the UC Riverside Foundation Board of Trustees. He enjoyed abundant travel adventures with his wife and daughters, often remarking enthusiastically afterward that "we made a memory today." He will be greatly missed by his loved ones and his many friends and colleagues. Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Marian, daughters Victoria, Suzanne and Sarah (Jed Baker), brother Thomas of Ocean Park, WA, and eight nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 31 at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Presbyterian Church, 4495 Magnolia Avenue, Riverside CA, with a reception immediately following. Private interment at Riverside National Cemetery will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Paul and Marian Trotta Endowed Fund at UCR Medical School, 900 University Avenue, Riverside CA 92521.
