Bill Mayfield Obituary

BILL RAY MAYFIELD Bill Mayfield passed away on October 1, 2010 at the age of 81 in Chico, CA. Born on March 10, 1929 to Bonnie and Cassie Mayfield in Texas. He was formerly from Riverside, CA and in the last five years of his life he moved to Chico, CA. Bill was in the U.S. ARMY and reached the rank of Sgt. First Class during the Korean War. He managed an office in Riverside for National Life insurance and after retiring early he owned his own real estate office and remained in real estate sales for 20 years. Bill learned to play tennis at the age of 45 and enjoyed playing for the next 25 years. He also was an avid golf and bridge player, loved spending time with his grandchildren, playing board games and loved to watch his USC Trojan Football. Bill is predeceased by his parents; brothers, Oliver and Jarreil; sister, Katherine. He is survived by his loving wife, Helen; son, Gary and daughter in law, Deanna; son, Lance and daughter in law, Fern; close family friend, Jack and Sheri Saladow and 7 grandchildren. A memorial service for Bill will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Newton-Bracewell Chico Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army in care of Newton-Bracewell Funeral Homes.
