C.D. Wilkins Obituary
C.D. WILKINS C.D. Wilkins, formerly of Riverside, CA, was born September 20, 1913 and died at the age of 100 on October. 25, 2013. He was born in Portland, Oregon and grew up in various parts of the West and Midwest. He had an extremely full life as a youth, picking cotton, and beans and anything else he and his dad could harvest, to picking up coal on the railroad tracks during the Great Depression. From an early age he made his own way and finally ending up in Los Angeles, where he met the love of his life, Doris Alyce McGaffin. They were married in 1937. The first time he saw her, he said "She's the one for me!". C.D. worked in the tool and die industry during World War II. After the war he worked as a plastic moldmaker and in 1954 he started his own company Wilkins Mold Polishing specializing in polishing plastic injection molds. In 1969 C.D. was honored as "Boss of the Year" by the Riverside Jaycees. They lived in Riverside until 1980 when they moved to Mesa, AZ where he retired from mold polisher at age 90. Family members remember well, while celebrating his 90th birthday, telling C.D. that we would be in Mesa for all his future birthdays and he announced "I'm going to live to be 100" and he sure did. He is survived by his sons Ralph and Chris and nephews Jerry Thompson and Mark Barton and their spouses; three grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Services were held in Mesa, AZ where he was buried next to his beloved Doris.
