Eileen Slagle Obituary

EILEEN SLAGLE Eileen Slagle, formerly of Hemet, went home to be the Lord on Friday November 5, 2010. Eileen spent her last years under the watchful care of her beloved nephew, Robert Shively, and his wife, Opal in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Prior to joining her "Ohio family", Eileen enjoyed time with her daughter-in-law and husband, Vivian (Slagle) and Walter West, in Coronado and Blairsville, Georgia. All parts of family - brothers, nephews, nieces, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and church family - were blessings to Eileen - and God used Eileen as a profound blessing in each life she touched. Hemet retained a special place in Eileen\'s heart. Eileen came to Hemet with her much-loved husband James "Jimmy" Slagle. The two of them enjoyed many happy "retirement" years here before Jimmy passed in 1983. Eileen was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Hemet where she served as a Deaconess. She was very involved in Sunday School and made many delicious treats for fellowship dinners. Eileen delivered flowers at the birth of each baby in the church family. Children always held a special place in Eileen\'s heart, particularly her many grandchildren. Eileen\'s service to Jimmy as a caregiver, while he dealt with many physical challenges, let everyone see the beauty of a servant\'s heart. Eileen\'s legacy of hard work, kindness, curiosity, and love of the Lord will live on. Private graveside services will be held on November 17, 2010. In lieu of flowers, at the family\'s request, donations in Eileen\'s name can be made to the First Baptist Church of Hemet.
