Eugene Tunney Churder Obituary
EUGENE TUNNEY CHURDER "GINO" 9/10/193012/3/2012 Born in Warren, OH to Constantine and Sophia Churder. Joined U.S. Navy at 17 during the beginning of The Korean War. After leaving the Navy he moved back to New York and began working as a Bricklayer. In 1951 he moved to California, and married Jean King in 1964. In 1965, he moved his family to St. Louis, MO to work with his brother Jay in construction while opening a bar and shoe store in Montgomery City, MO. In 1977, Gino and family moved to Riverside, CA where he started his own Masonry business during the next 31 years and raised a large family that included 11 children. As a member of the American Legion since 1977, Gino made huge contributions to Post 289 in Riverside, where he served as an officer, was on many committees and prepared breakfast every Sunday morning for the last 9 years. He is preceded in death by his wife of 40 years Jean Churder, brother John Churder, daughters, Alva Rose, Eva Bendlin, and Mickey Clark and son John Thompson. He is survived by his brothers Marshall Churder, and Jay Churder, daughters, Gina Churder, Constance Rounsaville, and Ann Rundell, sons, Richard Churder, James Thompson, Larry Thompson and Barry Hartenbach, 19 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Interment at Riverside National Cemetery 1:15PM Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, with a celebration of Gino's life to follow at 3-?PM American Legion Post 289, 4151 Buchanan St., Riverside.
