Ian Griott Obituary

IAN JAMES GRIOTT Was born Nov. 05, 1996 in Riverside, CA and passed away on Nov. 10, 2010. A Jurupa Middle School eight grader, Ian amazed others with his Rubic\'s cube (solved in 1 min., 12 sec. behind his head), running, surfing and swimming. He mastered spelling on first sight if not by merely hearing words. He participated in cross country and aspired to compete in the Olympics and become the "fastest man on earth". Liked, loved and admired by family, classmates, school facility and religious education teachers, to countless people within his community he was known as that boy with the big smile who waved to everybody as he ran through their neighborhood. Ian is survived by his father, Richard Griott, II; his sisters, Erin Griott and Katalina Magyar; brother, Jozsef Magyar; grandparents, Richard and Dorothy Griott; aunts, Diane Griott, Teri Sally, Sue O\'Donnell; uncles, Joseph O\'Donnell, Nick Sally, and cousins Sarah and Elizabeth Glass, Claire, Anthony, Mary, Patrick and Anna O\'Donnell, and cat Marg. Rubidoux Mortuary will host rosary and viewing Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010, 2-4:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrate Monday, Nov. 22, 2010, 10:00am at St. Catherine\'s of Alexandria, 7025 Brockton Ave., Riverside, CA, followed by reception at the church hall. A private interment will be held at a later date. The family is asking that donations be submitted to Rubidoux Mortuary to assist with funeral expenses in lieu of flowers.

Our children attend Sunday Morning Faith Formation at St. Catherine's. I've only spoken to Ian and his family a few times but once you've met Ian, you can never forget him. Ian's smile lit up the Parish Hall. You couldn't help but notice when he was in the room. I admired how he looked after his younger sister, Erin, sometimes leading her by the hand. I will miss not seeing him at Church. My condolences to the family. Please know many people were touched by Ian's life. He will not be forgotten. We pray you find comfort in your happy memories of your time with him.
God Bless,

Eli R.
