JOSEPH EDWARD SCHNEIDER (ED) 93, passed away September 24 at home with family in Sun City, CA. Ed was born in Bridgeport, CT on September 7, 1917, where he lived for 60 years and met his wife Rose. He worked for Continental Baking Co. (Wonderbread) for 27 years as a route driver and was later promoted to sales manager. He joined the National Guard in 1939, and then served in Company G of the 350th Infantry where he obtained the rank of Sgt. He was injured while fighting in Italy during WWII and received a Bronze Star, then discharged from Kennedy General Hospital, Memphis, TN in January 1945. Ed and Rose moved to northern California in 1974 where they managed apartments for 12 years. After retiring in 1989, they moved to Sun City where Rose passed away in 1991. Ed married his second wife, Dolly, in 1992. Hobbies included handicapping racehorses, poker, jigsaw puzzles and cycling. Ed is survived by his wife Dolly, two sons David and Phil, stepsons Michael and Steven Teutschman, grandchildren Brook, Mackenzie, Adam and Grant, 7 step-grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside, CA 92518 on October 4th at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to National Military Family Association, 2500 North Van Dorn St., Suite 102, Alexandria, VA 22302.
