Kenny Stanton Obituary
"TURN THE NEGATIVE INTO THE POSITIVE AND YOU'LL BE UNSTOPPABLE" CORPORAL KENNY F. STANTON, JR. US ARMY Age 20, from Hemet, was killed in action October 13, 2006, while honorably serving our country in Baghdad, Iraq. Kenny was born in Downey and had lived in Hemet for the last 15 years. He was a 2004 Hemet High School Graduate. Kenny is survived by his proud parents, Kenny Sr. and Gloria Stanton; sisters, Brandy and Terry Stanton and brother, Mario Stanton, all of Hemet. Kenny was active in the Youth Group at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, enjoyed poetry, wrestling and basketball. Kenny kept an on-line journal at myspace.com that everyone is encouraged to continue to leave messages on. On Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006 Kenny's family received friends from 11am-3pm with Rosary Service following at Miller-Jones Mortuary, 1501 W. Florida Ave. in Hemet. A Mass of Christian Burial was on Mon., Oct. 23, 2006, 10am at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Hemet. Following mass Kenny will be laid to rest in the hallowed grounds of Riverside National Cemetery, next to so many others that have fought for our country. I have had the greatest honor to serve with Kenny Stanton. I am in his platoon serving in Baghdad. There are no words to do Kenny any justice as he was one of the most unique men I have ever met. He was motivated, happy, and excited every second of the day and would drop whatever he was doing to assist someone in need. The world is indeed a lesser place without such a fine human being and I'm so sorry for your loss. If there is ever anything that you need, please don't hesitate to ask. Anyone of us would do anything to assist you as I know Kenny would have done for any one of us. Kenny will forever be remembered in our hearts and minds and live on in that. I'm sorry again

Kenny F Stanton Jr will never be forgotten. He was and continue to be in our hearts forever. He was a very special person, I will miss him everyday of my life. If you knew him you would know that he was someone to look up to. He was always smiling and reasuring us that he loved us,cared,worried,and there if you needed him. He will forever be remembered for his courage to take on such a big role for our country. He paid with his life for doing what he believed in. I know there is no comfort for the lost of a love one. I lost my husband last year in Afghanistan and it is still hard on my heart. As Christmas approaches I will pray for you, it will be a hard one...but just know that there is a star that will be shining on that night for you.

No words can ever be said regarding your loss. My son will be going to Iraq in January. Not looking forward to knowing he could be killed or wounded but these kids are all heros. I served in Korea with Stanton. When I first got there to Korea he helped me to fit right in. He had an amazing light to him. He was a great guy. I will miss him and think of him always. To his family I would like to say I am so sorry. But as a soldier we all know the risks and the rewards. Stanton knew them too but he soldiered on. It is because of people like him that we live free. He lived as a soldier, died as a hero, remembered forever.

To the Family of Pfc. kenny F. Stanton:
If your child can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 as well and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for right now. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten . You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
