Lillian Beatrice Barles Obituary
LILLIAN BEATRICE BARLES, 88, of Riverside, California, passed away July 23, 2014 at Riverside Community Hospital surrounded by her loved ones. Lillian was born January 1, 1926, in Standard, California. She loved Riverside and made it her home for over fifty years. She attended Riverside Community College and worked as a medical office manager. Over her lifetime she was a dedicated volunteer for many organizations, including Meals on Wheels, Riverside Municipal Museum, and March AFB Hospital. She was also a sponsor for St. Andrews Newman Center. Lillian enjoyed her role on the Social Committee for Braemar Place, her home for many years, helping to create memorable events for fellow residents. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and they loved their time with her. Among her favorite pastimes were reading on her Kindle, attending church every Sunday and going to breakfast with her girlfriends, seeing movies and plays and shopping with her two daughters. Lillian cherished her time as an Air Force wife and all the opportunities it brought for travel and making new friends. One of her fondest memories was her time in Germany where she lived with her husband while he was a pilot for the Berlin Airlift. Lillian is preceded in death by her parents, Alyreed and William, her brother, William Jr., and her husband, Lt. Colonel Fortune Jean Barles Jr. She is survived by her daughters, April Wilson, Debbie Barles, and her son, Fortune Barles III, all of Riverside, California, as well as another son, Robert Barles, of Falls Church, Virginia; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. The family would like to thank Dr. Andro Sharobiem for his care and compassion for their mother during this difficult time. Her urn will be placed at Riverside National Cemetery. Services are private.
