Mary McEwan Obituary

HEMET MARY AMSCHEL McEWANJune 6, 1922 ~ Dec. 21, 2009 Passed away at age 87, in Hemet, California. Mary was born on June 6, 1922 in Sheridan, Wyoming. She graduated from Sheridan High School and later was nominated as Queen of the Sheridan, Wyoming Rodeo in 1941. She married US Army Air Corps First Lieutenant James Edward Amschel on April 15, 1942. After law school in Laramie, Wyoming, Mary and Edward moved with their two children, Edward and Peter, to Jackson, Wyoming. One more son, Stephen, was born and the family moved to Hemet in 1959. Mary was a legal secretary and was active in the Ramona Pageant Association and Family Service Association. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Edward in 1977. Mary married retired Wyoming Supreme Court Justice Leonard McEwan in 1988 and then made her home in Story, Wyoming. She was preceded in death by Leonard in 2008. She is survived by her children, Edward T. Amschel (Lynne), Peter Amschel, and Stephen Amschel (Kathy); her brother, Thomas K. Hurst of Sheridan, Wyoming and her sister, Barbara McConnell of Colorado Springs; her grandchildren, Ryan Amschel of Columbia Falls, Montana, Kurt Amschel of Winchester, California and Tera Amschel Puckett of Hemet, Connie Hysong of Hemet, Michael Amschel of Menifee, Charles Amschel of Lisbon, Ohio, Mary Susan Amschel of Palm Springs, Randall Amschel of Hemet, John Amschel and Mark Amschel of Denver, Colorado; her great-grandchildren, Simon and Addison of Winchester, California, Laura Amschel of Hemet, William Amschel of Menifee and Madalyn Amschel of Menifee. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 30 at 12:00 p.m. at Inland Memorial Harford Chapel, 120 N. Buena Vista St., Hemet, California. Burial will be private. I have met few that are so constant in character than my Grandmother Mary. As a child some of my fondest memories where spent at the family cabin in Story, Wyoming.
