Robert Prytz Obituary

ROBERT C. PRYTZ June 24, 1940 to January 27, 2015 Bob lived his 74 years with honor, integrity and dignity. He loved to be around people and always had a twinkle in his eye. Born in South Bend, Indiana, he grew up in Long Beach, CA; he graduated from Long Beach Poly High School, where he lettered in Swimming and Water Polo. He also graduated from Long Beach City College. He attended Long Beach State College after his service in the U.S. Navy. His military service took him to the Far East. Later, he worked in aerospace, building the first lunar command module. In 1970, Bob joined the Los Angeles Police Department. He served the citizens of Los Angeles, in many capacities for 28.5 years; he retired as a Detective III in 1998. Upon retirement, he moved to Murrieta, CA with his wife Jan. During retirement Bob took up watercolor and paddle tennis. He was an athlete for most of his life, he continued to race in Triathlons and Cycling events for many years after his retirement. Ever the competitor, Bob also loved watching sports, through thick and thin, he loved the Los Angeles Dodgers and USC Football. He is survived by his wife Jan, they were married 50 years; daughters Carrie Koehmstedt (Ole) and Sharon Prytz, grandchildren Erin, Brett and Oden and sisters Victoria and Marsha and their families. Per Bob's wishes no services are planned, his ashes will be interred at Riverside National Cemetery. If you want to remember him, make a donation to your local animal shelter or do a random act of kindness. We are all better for knowing him.
