Thomas Coalson Obituary

THOMAS E. COALSON (1924-2010) of Beaumont, passed away October 23 in Huntington Beach following a stroke. The third of Edward and Jessie Coalson\'s seven children, Tom held his family to be most important throughout his adventurous life. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed camping, hiking, rock hunting, golf, football, and oil painting, becoming an accomplished painter. He served in the Naval Air Corps from 1943-45 as a pilot stationed on a carrier in the Pacific. In 1944 he married Lois Wilson, who died in 1975. They had five children. In 1976, Tom married Eleanor Brumfield, who died in 2007. He was an outgoing person with many friends. He began his career as a technical writer, successfully owned or managed several companies, raised lilacs, trout and catfish, ending with selling real estate. His parents, brothers Edward and Stanley, sister Jane, and both wives preceded him in death. His sisters Margaret, Ann, and Lois, six children, Susanne, Edward, Thomas, Jr., Timothy, Alexander and Valerie, 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren survive him. Memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 13, at 2 p.m. at 1177 Beaumont Ave., Beaumont. I still miss you, Dad. Thanks for all you built into my life--a love of nature, of family and friends, of camping and of geology. You were so young when you had me and Ed. I'm still impressed how well you did with how little preparation!
