Donicia "Frances" Salinas Obituary
DONICIA "FRANCES" SALINAS In the autumn of 1921 Donicia Frances Salinas came into the world, she lived 92 years when the lord called her home on February 19, 2014 , to be reunited with her husband of 65 years William Salinas, in heaven. Frances and William are now united with their two sons: baby Arnold and Gilbert Salinas; also in attendance in heaven, are Anita Nunez, Gonzalo (Sluggo) Nunez, Olga (Nunez) Hargis, and Fredrick Schneider, four of France's grandchildren. She had two great-grandchildren who were taken early in their lives as well, Krista and Macadio Schneider. Frances (Nana) was a native to the Pass Area, for she was born and raised in San Timoteo Canyon to Luisa and Emmanuel O. Gonzales. Frances survived her sisters and brothers, they include: Annie Garcia, Ester Martus, Alfred, Robert, and Ralph Gonzales. In her early years of her life she attended school at "The Little Red School House" in San Timoteo and Beaumont Schools. Like her mother, she was a tribal member of the Pala Band of Mission Indians near Temecula, CA. Frances leaves behind a loving family with her three remaining children, William Salinas, Genevieve (Jeanie) Nunez, and Olivia Herrera, and from her children she had 15 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren. Frances worked all of her life, from picking walnuts and apricots to packing fruits and vegetables. She also worked at Beaumont Cold Storage. She was employed at the Rag and Shirt Factory, Dutech Co. in Banning, CA. Frances was Matron and Interpreter for the Beaumont Police Dept. She also worked at the Rusty Lantern and was an Instructional Aid for the Beaumont State Preschool. When Frances was not working or caring for her own family she cared for her mother and Juana Rocha, a longtime friend and neighbor. Frances was known in the community as a person who would take the time to help anyone who needed her help with monetary assistance, or offer encouragement, or just be there to listen. In the summertime her Uncle John would come to visit, and he would say "Nicha's house was like a hotel", with people coming and going all the time. Frances was hardworking and family oriented, as well as, generous. Frances believed in God and lived a good Christian life as best she could. She taught us to be good to others, and to take care of the land as our ancestors did. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, March 6, 2014 from 4 - 8 pm at the Weaver Mortuary Chapel, 1177 Beaumont Avenue, Beaumont, CA and Funeral Mass is scheduled for Friday, March 7, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church, 1234 Palm Avenue, Beaumont, CA with an interment to follow at Mt. View Cemetery in Beaumont. Arrangements were entrusted to Weaver Mortuary, Beaumont, CA, 951-845-1141 To leave condolences or sign the online guest book, please visit www.weaver- mortuary.com
