JOSEPH SWENDRA Obituary
CORONA JOSEPH SWENDRA Joseph Swendra, formerly of Corona, passed away peacefully at Jerry L. Pettis Veterans Hospital in Loma Linda, CA, February 1, 2010, six weeks before his 95th birthday. He was born on March 14, 1915 in Delano, Minnesota. He was one of 9 children. He enlisted in the Army September 1940, serving a tour of almost 4 years before being critically injured in Northern Africa, during the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign, as a Mortar Gunner which rendered him 100% disabled. He was preceded in death by his wife Edith in October, 1984. He leaves behind 6 children; Cynthia (Albert) Brown, Kathy (Joe) Railsback, Dennis (Sherill) Swendra, Janet (Richard) Santos, Mary (James/deceased- 1999) Tronti and Mark (Tarin) Swendra. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Joseph was known for his generosity toward various charities throughout his life. He will be deeply missed. Private services were held by Pierce Brothers Crestlawn Mortuary with private interment in Pierce Brothers Crestlawn Memorial Park.
