OREN WHEELER GOVIER Age 89, passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 in Riverside, CA. Oren was born on February 7, 1923 to George and Gertrude Govier in Penticton, B.C. Canada. Oren served in the Royal Canadian Air Force in WWII and after the war married Grace Marjorie Turner on August 24, 1945 in Vancouver, B.C. He graduated from University of British Columbia and received his Masters in Hospital Administration from the University of Minnesota in 1952. He became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1969. In 1952 Oren began a long career in the healthcare field including serving as a planning consultant with Minneapolis based Hamilton Associates and as a management executive at hospitals in San Jose, CA and Riverside, CA. He retired from Riverside Community Hospital in 1983 after 12 years of service. He was a past member of San Jose Kiwanis Club and enjoyed bonsai, real estate, and stock market investing as well as being an avid collector of John F. Kennedy books. He was a resident of Riverside, CA from 1971 until his passing. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Grace Govier; along with son George and Gretchen Govier of Tucson, AZ. and daughter Penny and Art Vincent of Corrales, NM. He was preceded in death by parents George and Gertrude Govier, daughter Wendy Orene Govier, and sister Raynee Ferdon. He has four grandchildren, Michael Govier, Missy Govier, Evan Vincent and Keenan Vincent. He is also survived by his brother George and Doris Govier of Calgary, Alberta, Canada and many other nieces and relatives. Oren was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be deeply missed.
