G. Edgar Aiken Obituary
G. EDGAR AIKEN Beloved son, husband, father and friend, Gilbert Edgar Aiken III died on December 29, 2012 with his family at his bedside after a year-long battle with ocular melanoma cancer. He is survived by his wife Diana; sons Douglas, Gregory and Jeffrey; mother Christina; brother James; and sister Nancy (Vandever). Known as Ed/Eddie to all who knew him, he met his bride of 39 years at Lakewood High School while performing in Madrigals in 1969, an elite vocal ensemble. They were married in 1973 and with a heart for serving God, continued to sing in choir and praise team at several churches and were members of the Worship Arts at Canyon Lake Community Church for the past 23 years. He served proudly in the U.S. Navy from 1971-75, including an 18-month tour on Midway Island. Ed spent 38 years in health care as a respiratory therapist; the past 21 at Rancho Springs Medical Center in Murrieta. A celebration of Ed's life will be on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Canyon Lake Community Church. He will be interred at Riverside National Cemetery on Monday, January 7, 2013 at 11:15 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ed's memory to The Angeles Clinic Foundation, earmarked for the Melanoma Center (www.theangelesclinicfoundation.org/donate).
