Lieutenant Colonel Matthew H. Thompson Obituary
LIEUTENANT COLONEL MATTHEW H. THOMPSON Lieutenant Colonel Matthew H. Thompson was born to John and Carole Thompson on Jan. 2, 1965 in Tacoma, Washington. Matt passed away July 10, 2013. Matt is survived by his wife Debbie of 27 years; daughter Jennifer; son Ryan; parents John and Carole; four siblings Jean-Marie, Nanette, John, and Mark; their spouses and families. Matt was a graduate of Monache High School in Porterville, CA and Fresno State University. He lettered in wrestling, football and track in high school and was an avid Fresno State Bulldog football fan, often traveling all around the country with his family to attend games. He will be remembered for his love of outdoor cooking, physical fitness, commitment to serving his country, and his big smile. Matt served nine years active duty in the U.S. Air Force, and served thirteen years as Aircraft Commander at March Air Reserve Base. In the interim he was a co-pilot for American Airlines. He proudly served his country overseas in multiple deployments. The memorial service will be held July 17, at 12:30pm at The Cultural Resource Center on March Air Reserve Base. Following the memorial will be a service at Riverside National Cemetery at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations or memorial contributions be made in honor of Matt to the Wounded Warrior Project at http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org
