Harold Buford Craig Obituary
HAROLD BUFORD CRAIG Born June 9, 1931 (Riverside, California) went to his Heavenly Father's house on August 17, 2013. Son of Fred Lee and Ida Myrtle (Lewis) Craig of Mena, Arkansas. He is survived by his wife of 48 years Joyce Craig; two sisters, Sandy (Ralph) Clark of Hazard, Kentucky, Norma Meuser of Hot Springs, Arkansas; sons Jeff Wince (Donn) of Mancos, Colorado, Jason Craig (Kim) of Rancho Cucamonga; grandchildren Janine (Ivan) Thomas of Maryland, Jonathan Wince of Arizona, James, Luke, Matthew, John Craig of California; one great-granddaughter, 29 nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a younger and older brother and grandson Justin Wince. Harold was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He took great pride in his family and cared deeply for them. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force serving stateside during the Korean War. He was a current long-time member and past president of the Hemet California and Plymouth Ohio Lions Clubs, Past Exalted Ruler of the Hemet Elks Lodge, and Councilman for the township of Plymouth, Ohio. Harold was steadfast in his Christian faith, a current member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Hemet, CA, former member of First Lutheran Church, Ontario, CA and a founding member of Cross and Crown Lutheran Church of Rancho Cucamonga, CA. He took an active role in everything that he was involved in. He retired from General Telephone Company after a 31 year engineering management career. In his retirement he, along with some other retired friends from GTE, formed an Engineering firm in Covina, CA and he and his wife started Hal-Joy Ceramics company in San Jacinto, CA. His interests included music, wood working, painting, public service, and keeping up with his grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling between California and Ohio visiting friends and family along the way. A memorial and celebration of his life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 191 Columbia Street, Hemet, California on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 11:00am. Those attending the memorial please wear a hat or baseball cap in his honor. Burial will be in Plymouth, Ohio. In memory of Harold Craig, please donate your glasses to your nearest Lions Club collection location, your time to a charitable cause in your city and a bicycle to a child that needs one.
