1929 - 2014 Obituary Condolences Gallery
EDWARD DUFF Age 84, of Riverside, CA, passed peacefully on February 18, 2014. He was born in Detroit, MI on May 1, 1929 to Patrick and Ellen(Hickey) Duff. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Duff on February 18, 1995. He joined the US Navy in 1948 and served on board the USS Rochester (CA-124). In 1950 while serving on the Rochester, he crossed the Panama Canal. In 1956 he joined the US Air Force at the rank of Airman 1st Class. During his time with the Air Force he obtained his high school GED and an Associated Arts Degree. He was a Tech Sergeant when he retired in 1970. While he enjoyed many different assignments within the Air Force, his favorite was being a Missile Facility Technician on the Titan II missiles. He earned numerous medals, ribbons and awards during his combined military service. He retired from the US Air Force at Davis-Monthan AFB in Tucson, AZ. After retiring from the Air Force, Ed moved his family to Riverside, CA. He worked as a maintenance engineer for the County of Riverside from 1970-1985. He then became the caregiver for his ill wife. Ed always had a smile and a joke for everyone. He was the kind of guy who would help you out. He would tip waitresses with two dollar bills so that they would remember him. He enjoyed reading Louis L'Amour westerns and working crossword puzzles. He was a big fan of John Wayne movies. He enjoyed the classic masters of comedy such as Abbot & Costello and Laurel & Hardy. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races. Ed is survived by his daughter Mary Duff and his son-in-law Scott Cowper. And several close neighbors who were his extended family. A memorial service will be held at Acheson and Graham Garden of Prayer, 7944 Magnolia Avenue, Riverside, CA 92504 on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at 7pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center, 6165 Industrial Avenue Riverside, CA 92504.
