Warren Elwyn Gleason Obituary
WARREN ELWYN GLEASON, 93, died June 11, 2014 in Hemet, CA. Born in Alhambra, CA, on May 22, 1921, to Milton and Annie Gleason, he graduated from Alhambra High School and received his BA from the University of Arkansas. He married Harriet Blundell in April 1942. He served in the military during World War II. Warren was a purchasing agent for General Dynamics for 30 years. After he "retired," he continued working as a cook, first volunteering at church dinners. He cooked for Lakewood First Baptist Church, U.S. Center for World Mission, and Wycliffe. He continued to volunteer even when he could no longer cook, most recently working several days a week at The God's Story Project and in the library at Inland Valley Baptist Church. Warren is predeceased by his wife, Harriet; his brothers Robert and Fred, and sisters Barbara Banker and Maydel Bowers. He is survived by four children: Milton and Joyce Gleason, Jean and John Smith, Paul and Karen Gleason, and Martha and David Lehmann. He has 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Memorial service is scheduled at Inland Valley Baptist Church, 2700 West Johnston Avenue, Hemet, CA 92545 at 3:00 p.m. on June 21. Interment will be at Riverside National Cemetery.
