Wisam Haddad Obituary

DR. WISAM HADDAD Dr. Wisam was born in 1954 in Amman, Jordan. He worked hard to accomplish his dreams of becoming a surgeon, and served people in that capacity since graduating from Loma Linda Medical School in 1979 until his peaceful passing on August 10, 2014 at the age of 60. Countless lives were saved by his skilled healing hands. He was named among the nation's top doctors by US News and World Report. He worked and taught at Loma Linda University, and practiced surgery at Riverside General Hospital, Redlands Community Hospital and Beaver Medical Clinic where he also served a term as Chief of Surgery. He loved his life's work, his colleagues and the patients he served, but above all, he loved his family and God. His true joy in life was serving his family. He was married to Rozanne Haddad for 35 years. It must have been a match made by God because Rozanne was delivered by a Dr. Haddad when she was born in Connecticut in 1949. Together, they had Angie, Laila and Laura. Wisam was a true family man. His greatest joy was spending time with his girls- repeating family traditions and reminiscing about the years of love they shared. He nurtured and provided for their dreams to become reality- he was a dream maker. Angie is a nurse with four beautiful children who affectionately called him "Papa", Laila founded a medical non-profit called New Reality International and is also a spokesperson globally to combat the injustice of sex trafficking, and Lara is a gospel recording artist and singer/songwriter living in Nashville TN. Wisam loved the home he and Rozanne designed, built and got to enjoy for 27 years. When he wasn't working at the hospital or dreaming up new vacations to share with his family, Wisam would be out picking citrus and fruit that he planted, putting in new flower beds, editing family home videos that he took, playing in the pool with his four grandchildren or taking long walks with Rozanne. The beautiful experiences and home that he gave to his family were mere expressions of the big heart he invited all to find refuge in. He loved nothing more than giving his best to his family, friends and patients- His heart beat with generosity and thoughtfulness. Wisam was the eldest of his six brothers and sisters. His siblings- Silvia, Sameer, Grace, Sammy, Jacklin, and Haitham- his mother Tammam and father Boulos, all relied on him as the rock and leader of their family. Wisam could be called on day or night- a dependable and faithful son and brother. Wisam in arabic means "Medal of Honor" and that is what he truly was for the Haddad family. Integrity, faithfulness, honor, kindness, gentleness, respect, generosity and service are the words that ring loud and clear in people's hearts when they fondly think of Dr. Wisam Boulos Haddad and the great life that he shared with this world. FAREWELL TO MY BELOVED FIRST COUSIN- DR WISAM BOULS SAMUEL ODEH HILLAL EL HADDAD.
Dr Wisam, my next door neighbor, same church, same school…… Your dad, Uncle BOULOS named you Wisam - a medal of joy pride and honor. Yes, indeed, you were a Wisam of jubilation, in every phase of your life. Dr Fareed Flihan Hawtmeh your mentor (your mom's brother) did ignite your ambition and dream to become a medical doctor. Pre-med schooling in INDIA, in ENGLAND, in USA- and ANDREWS UNIVERSITY - Finally LOMA LINDA UNIVERSITY- top of the class…… with the highest honors, then the DEAN of medical school. An outstanding medical doctor, the best of the best in academia & in practice. Diligent and most advanced professor in medicine- second to none- surgeries in the hospital and on the satellites from your hospital worldwide. Healed the body mind and soul. To top all that, you distinguished yourself with an outstanding personality, full of love, respect, humble, willing to give of your self generously – volunteering ……. touched the people of your encounter. A MAN OF GOD……..
My wife Khawla & I, together with my brother Sam and his wife Salam came to your daughter's Angie's wedding. What an outstanding hospitality treatment we received!!!!! What a great loving husband! What a great adorable father you are! Dr Wisam you came with Roseanne your wife, to my son's Fouad's Wedding. Everlasting and unforgettable memories of love, respect, & honor we shared at the highest level of happiness and joy between cousins- the children of Fouad and Boulos children of Samuel Odeh Haddad.
Dr Wisam , your death did shake the world, did break our hearts, did shed our tears of sadness and misery. What a great vacuum you left that cannot ever be healed!!! Your name is immortal in the book of history of Happy Helping Hands to Humanity.
My prayer to the Almighty God is to give us all (family and friends) the wisdom, the patience, and the courage to stay a course with God ; to fight the good fight and keep the faith you had so we meet in THE NEW JERUSALEM …. The “ Blessed Hope” given to us at CALVERY through the blood of JESUS CHRIST our LORD and SAVIOR.

AMEN & AMEN,

Your first cousin,
Frank Fouad Haddad and Family. — with Victor W Mashni and 4 others.

Dr. Haddad quite possibly is the reason my 90 year old father has more time with us. He just performed surgery on him a mere 6 weeks ago and was just wonderful. Life is so fragile and what a blessing this man was. My heart goes out to his family and I am so grateful for what he has given mine. God speed....Sally DeMaggio Royer (San Clemente)

It was with great sadness that I learned about Wisam's passing late last week. Although I haven't seen him for many years now and we have gone in vastly different directions, I distinctly remember good times together in medical school at Loma Linda University. Being in the same class and both being interested in surgery gave me a chance to get to know him. As it has been pointed out, Dr. Haddad was a kind, gentle soul, and even in the "cutthroat" atmosphere of the Class of '79B, he was always willing to help fellow classmates learn. I remember a very kind person with a great sense of humor, and I am very sorry to hear that he has passed on. I hope the family will be comforted by knowing that Wisam had an impact on many people, not just his patients, but his classmates of long ago!

Truly a loss for family, friends, colleagues, patients and those who came to know him. A true gentleman. He treated everyone equally and always with a respectful gentle caring kindness. Dr. Haddad was always a pleasure to be around. His serene presence always made you feel relaxed in the most stressful situations. His love of family and the priority he placed on them in his life was a constant reminder of how life should be truly lived. My heart goes out to all of his family and friends. He will be greatly missed. I will always remember his calm walk through the halls of the surgery center. He walks on the clouds now. Rest in peace Dr Haddad.

Family, I'm deeply sorry for your loss. He was my daughters surgeon whom I was anxiously waiting to meet on the 11th when we got the news of his passing. May God give you comfort during this devastating time. Cherish those memories you have of him.

I will always remember Dr. Haddad, when I was doing my clinicals as a student nurse I got to watch him do surgery and he noticed how short I was and how I couldn't see and he got me a stool and let me stand right next to him. He talked to me the whole time and explained to me what he was doing. I was so grateful. He always made you feel so important. The world just got a little dimmer with his loss.
