John Steinbacher Obituary

JOHN STEINBACHER On October 9, 2015, John Steinbacher peacefully passed away. John Steinbacher was born October 18, 1925 in Foley, Alabama, son of Joseph and Catherine (Matyok) Steinbacher. His biography appears in Notable Americans and Who's Who in America. John Adam Steinbacher was among those to whom the 2007-08 edition of Great Minds of the 21st Century was dedicated. He has received honors from many noble institutions, including Rotary and American Legion. In l988 he was named an alumnus of the year by Pacific University for his philanthropic endeavors. A Bachelor of Arts in Religion degree was earned in 1951 from Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon. Graduate studies continued in l952-53 at San Francisco Theological Seminary, l965 at the University of Southern California and 1963 at Sacramento State College. John was a Roman Catholic. He maintained a personal philosophy of "Never Give Up! Never retire! Volunteer!" Influences in his life were novelist Taylor Caldwell, Oscar winning movie script writer Francis Marion, and Walter Winchell who founded the Damon Runyon Cancer Fund. Throughout his life he served others in many different ways. He was the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of the Cancer Federation in Banning, California, a Television and Radio Commentator, a School Teacher, Social Worker, and an Investigative Reporter. Blessed with the ability to write eloquently, John penned motion picture scripts, LP recordings, film magazines, over 100 articles, and 11 books. One novel that became critically acclaimed was Wayfarers of Fate. This gripping novel is full of intrigue, action, deception, courage, faith, and suspense. Another book, Bitter Harvest, written by John is considered to be a simple, direct, masterpiece. According to an editor of the Christian Science Monitor John Steinbacher was a "National Phenomenon." A Memorial Service will be held at Rubidoux Mortuary, 951-683-2215, 6091 Mission Blvd. Riverside, CA 92509, Monday, October 19th at 1:30 PM.
