Eunice Emogene Gorgon(1924 - 2013)

Longtime Soldotna resident Eunice Emogene Gordon passed away, Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013 at Central Peninsula Hospital. She was 89.
At her request, no services are planned.
Eunice was born on Jan. 25, 1924 in Mankato, Minn. to Arthur and Grace Ekstrand. She attended Mankato State University, where she earned her teaching degree and later two Master's Degrees.
Eunice married Roy Gordon on July 2, 1949, and they moved to Juneau in 1950. After a few years, they returned to Minnesota, where she taught school. In 1967, they returned to Alaska and made the Kenai Peninsula their home. She continued to teach until retiring in 1981.
After retirement, she became State Treasurer for her retired teachers association and volunteered in local libraries for many years. She travelled to Europe with the Friendship Force and crisscrossed the U.S. and Canada by rail with her husband, Roy. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2009.
Eunice loved lifelong learning, getting her first computer in her 80s.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy and son, John.
She loved her family dearly and will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends after living a full, rewarding life.
