Kenai resident Jake Ivanoff, 68, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage.
A memorial will be held at Tyotkas Elder Center in Old Town Kenai, on Thursday, Oct. 11 at 3 p.m.
Jake was born in Kenai to Alexander and Lydia Ivanoff on March 9, 1944. He was one of seven children.
Jake grew up in Kenai. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army
. Jake also fished the Cook Inlet and worked in the oil field. He was the Chief of the Kenaitze Tribe for many years. He married the love of his life, Carmen Joan Olssen, of Seldovia, and their love for one another lives on.
Jake loved to carve wood and hunt for agates on the beach. He loved to play cribbage at the American Legion where he was an active member.
Jake is survived by a large family of nieces and nephews as well as all the people he touched with his love.
The memorial will be a pot luck; guests are asked to bring a side dish.
