Longtime Alaskan and Sterling resident, Alice D. Card, age 87, passed away Feb. 22, 2018 at Providence Hospital, Anchorage, AK.

Alice was born Jan 22, 1931, in Boston, Mass. to William and Viola Reed.

At the age of 27 she moved to Alaska with her beloved husband, Donald Wm. Card, where Donald was stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base, with their 3 children, Sallie, Anna, and Michael.

They began homesteading in 1958 on the Kenai Peninsula, Sterling, Alaska. Donald retired from the military in 1965 after which they operated Sterling Excavating and Sterling Peat, as well as owning two commercial fishing boats.

Alice was survived by her sisters Jerri Reed and Dolly Clement and brother Warren Reed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, brother's Bill Reed, Albert Reed, Jim Reed, sister Pat Daly, and her parents William and Viola Reed.

Alice is survived by her daughters Sallie Norman and Anna M. Herring, son Michael T Card; (5) Grandchildren Dana Johnstone of Nikiski, AK; Dawn Hardwick of Seminole, OK; Michael Herring of OK; Wayne Card and Darrell Card both of Sterling, AK; (10) Great-grandchildren Christopher Johnstone, Christina Johnstone, Joseph Leeds, Tyler Leeds, Anessa Leeds, Tiffany Card, Johnnie Rose Card, Casey Card, Jasmine Card and Miya Card.

A "Celebration of Life" will be held July 28th, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sterling Senior Center.

In lieu of flowers, Alice would prefer a memorial donation be made to the Sterling Senior Center Endowment Fund on her behalf. Sterling Area Senior Citizens, Inc., 34453 Sterling Hwy, Sterling, AK 99672
