Lifelong Alaskan and Anchorage resident Mrs. Anne Kathleen Golden, 84, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018 at her daughter's home in Kenai.

Memorial services will be Saturday, March 31, 2018 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Mount Vernon Common House, Mount Vernon Court in Anchorage.

Anne was born March 5, 1933 in Wood River, Alaska in a tiny Athabascan Village located between Fairbanks and Nenana.

She retired from her home daycare in 1996. Anne was an active and committed member of the SCF Elders Program in Anchorage. She loved knitting, was a great seamstress, loved camping, fishing and berry picking.

The family wrote, "Anne was born in the cabin on her family's homestead in Wood River, AK. She often shared memories of life before electricity and of a subsistence life with dog teams and traplines. Her dad died when she was four and her mother sent her to live in the mission boarding school in Nenana when she was six. Anne was lonely for her family, but the mission school was her home for the next eight years and the other students became her family. She attended Mt. Edgecumbe H.S. in Sitka, and she was thrilled for that opportunity. She finished school and moved to Anchorage where she worked at the old ANS hospital for many years.

Anne met her husband Mike when he was stationed at Elmendorf in the early 1960's. He was a handsome Irishman and they had four children together. They and moved about the US to many military bases. Anne and Mike retired to Anchorage with their children in 1976.

Anne saw many changes in her years on earth and she embraced and rejoiced in her life and in her loved ones. She lost her beloved husband after forty years of marriage and she navigated the rest of her life with exuberance and courage. She had a beautiful spirit and she had a close and loving relationship with a wide circle of family and friends, most especially with her grandchildren."

She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael J. Golden; granddaughter, Michaela K. Marston; brother, Thomas Albert; sister, Nancy Holman; grandfather, Chief Thomas of Nenana; parents, Justin and Abbie Silas.

She is survived by her son, Daniel T. Golden of Anchorage; daughter, Catherine Lamborn of Anchorage and Patsy (Lloyd) Marston of Kenai; grandchildren, Justin M. Lamborn of Anchorage, Keitha Lamborn of Anchorage, Jacy Grace Marston of Kenai, Bridget B. Marston of Kenai, and Miles P. Marston of Kenai; and many close friends and extended family members.
