Charles G. Craig West "Chuck", 61, died Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna with his family by his side.

A wake will be held for Mr. West at 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, at 37165 Lou Morgan Road in Sterling.

He was born June 16, 1956 in Gulf Port, Mississippi. He served in the military after high school and was honorably discharged a year later and came to Alaska in 1974 to join the life of a Bering Sea Crab Fisherman. The sea was his passion, loved what it had to offer. He watched many of his friends and peers lose their lives, and almost his too! He went down on the Alaskan Monarch, a 120' crab fishing vessel in 1990, which ended his life as a fisherman.

He loved his children and family, loved to camp, fish and hunt. He will be missed dearly!

He was preceded in death by his niece Samantha Kelly and sister Bobbie.

He is survived by his mother Priscilla Elaine Price; father, Bobbie Craig & Billie Rae West; wife of 10 years, Cheryle K. Fitzpatrick West; sisters, Robin Tull, Cheryle, Janice and Lisa West; brother, Billy West; children, Bristol, Brandon, Brittney, Bering West, Joseph West, Thomas Boveaiurs, and Austin Slover; step-daughter, Alicia Longan; nieces and nephews, Candice West, Wesley Goodall, and Tyler Little, Helecia Brewer; great nieces and nephews, McCallister, Ryan and Ben Little, Raleigh West and Willow White; grandchildren, Zec, Zabyn, Zouie, Hancock, Hayden and Carson Kowallzowski, Jacob West, and Destiny Pierren; step-grandchildren, Jacobee Chapman, Jeremiah Longan and Carter Fitzpatrick.
