Ms. Henderson was born June 1, 1955 in Centralia, Washington. She moved to Alaska in 1957 living in Ninilchik, where she graduated from Ninilchik High School in 1973. In 1975 she moved to Anchorage where she graduated from Alaska Business College in 1979. She remained living in Anchorage until 1997 before moving back to Ninilchik.

She worked for the Ninilchik Senior Center until her passing. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 18 and The Senior Center. She had been a board member for the Kenai Peninsula Fair, Emergency Services, Ninilchik Community Library and ALA Alaska Girls State Director for five years. She held many Ninilchik Unit offices and Department Auxiliary chairmanships. Her life was about giving back to her community. She helped with different fundraising events and could be counted on to donate a beautiful handmade quilt whenever somebody asked for a donation. She loved quilting and reading romance novels.

The family wrote, "She will be missed by many. She was a pillar of strength to her kids, family and community. Her generosity and kind heart were an inspiration to anybody that had the pleasure of meeting her. Her passing will leave a void in the hearts of many, but we will remember the good times and laughs in order to get us through the tough times. We will keep her alive in our memories and pass on the stories to her beloved grandkids so that they will hold a piece of her in their hearts."
