Clam Gulch resident, Ms. Donna Louise Anderson Githens, 64, died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011 at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna.

Per her request no services will be held. She will be scattered in Homer at a later date. Ms. Githens was born June 22, 1947 in Providence, Rhode Island. She briefly served in the U.S. Air Force. Donna moved to Alaska in January of 2006 where she lived in Clam Gulch. In 2009 she retired for good. Donna had numerous community art awards that she received throughout her life. Her hobbies were pastel and colored pencil drawing, painting, gardening, walking the beach and photography.
The family wrote, "Donna was a wonderful companion, mother and grandmother. She lived a simple life and loved every moment of it. She had an immense passion for art, nature, and animals. She brought beauty, grace and joy into all our lives and will be greatly missed by her partner Carl, sons, Edward and Donald and her dog Sugar."
She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Anderson.
She is survived by her sons, Edward Githens of Saginaw, Texas and Donald Githens of Colorado Springs, Colo., mother, June Anderson of Warwick, RI, brother, Donald Anderson of Conn., grandson, Andy Githens and granddaughter, Sarah Githens both of Colorado Springs, Colo.
