Longtime Alaskan Douglas Wayne Bosarge, 58, passed away Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017 at home with his family by his side after a long battle with cancer.

No services are planned at this time.

Doug was born Oct. 24, 1959 in Gulfport, Mississippi. He moved to Alaska over 35 years ago had lived in Juneau before moving to Soldotna. He worked as a driver for many years, but most recently was a dedicated stay-at-home father.

He recently asked God back in his life through the .

Doug enjoyed fishing, hunting, being on the water and anything with his daughters.

His family wrote, "He would do anything for anyone when they asked and was loved by many people. If you had the time to have a beer and smoke with him, chances are you wouldn't leave anytime soon. He loved spending every minute with his wife and daughters up until his passing."

He is survived by his wife, Mary Bosarge; daughters, Melissa A.L. and Betty D. Bosarge, all of Soldotna; his parents, Willie L. and Betty D. Bosarge of Clovis, California; brother, Michael Bosarge of Missouri; sister, Jeanett Bowers of Fresno, California; brother, Gregory Bosarge of Texas; sister, Catherine Baker of Oregon; and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
