On Friday, Dec. 16, 2016, longtime Soldotna resident Edna "Buzzy" M. Kennedy Brown died peacefully on her 86th birthday at her daughter's home in Grosse Pointe, Michigan surrounded by family.
Edna was born in Wayne County, Michigan and moved to Alaska in 1977 with her husband and love of her life, Richard "Dick" Brown, where they built their dream home and lived out the remainder of their lives.
A strong woman, Edna stood for what she believed. She was sustained by her faith as an active member of Soldotna United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She will be remembered as a loving and caring person, touching the lives of many. Once stating her goal in life was to be the very best mother she could be, her family feels that Edna succeeded. She was adored by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Edna is survived by her daughters Kasandra (Thomas) Evans and Cynthia (Walter) Johnson; grandchildren, Matthew (Lynn) Coleman, Timothy Coleman, Thomas (Caroline) Evans, Jeffery (Danielle) Evans, Michael (Lindsay) Evans, Aaron Brown, Aimee (Kevin) Boyce, Ashley Johnson, Jasmine Lind and Sarah Gruber; great-grandchildren, Amelia, Elena, Wyatt, Lily, Hayden, Claire, Chloe, Alivia, Dantea, Andre, Jordan, Jade and Malik; siblings Sandra Bullis, Marvin Newcomb and Judith Ambort; and her most cherished friend, Helen Jeter.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Richard J. Brown; sons Mark Richard Brown and Richard Todd Brown; and grandson, Andrew WC Johnson.
A memorial service will be held at the Soldotna United Methodist Church with the Rev. Karen Martin Tichenor officiating on a date to be determined.
