Ezra Mitchell "Mitch" Vann Jr. was born to Ernestine "Teeny" and Ezra Mitchell Vann Sr. on February 24, 1956 in Norfolk, Virginia. He passed away in his sleep on June 14, 2013 at his home in Waverly, Georgia, he was 57 years old.
The Guest Book is expired.
Mitch was the youngest of five children and spent his childhood in Virginia Beach and in 1975 he moved to Alaska. He met and married Penny McClain and later they had two children: Ailis and Deaglan and they lived in Soldotna.
He worked for Peak Oilfield Services for 20 years and really enjoyed the people he worked with. During his time off from work he spent time at his home in Soldotna and also in Georgia with family.
Mitch loved the ocean and grew up surfing in the Atlantic. Mitch was incredibly caring, kind and generous to his friends and family and will always be remembered for being a great cook and having a huge heart. As he would say, be young, have fun!
He is preceded in death by his parents Ezra Sr. and Ernestine and his brother Henry. He is survived by his two children, Ailis of Palmer and Deaglan of Anchorage; sisters Elaine, Jenny, and Cindy, and brothers in law Dan, Bill, and David; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and many friends spread out across the world.
Mitch will be greatly missed and in lieu of flowers the family has set up an account in his name at Matanuska Valley Federal Credit Union. Mitch's love of the ocean inspired his daughters to have a brick dedicated to him at the Georgia Sea Turtle Center; any remaining donations will be given to the GSTC.
There will be a celebration of life for Mitch at the Palmer Train Depot on July 28, 2013 at 3:00 PM.
