Alaskan resident Hazel May Bentley, 79, died Sunday, April 14, 2013 at South Peninsula Hospital Long Term Care.
Memorial services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 28 in the South Peninsula Hospital Long Term Care Great Room. Pastor Bob Redmond will officiate. A memorial potlatch will be held in July 2013 in Ninilchik.
Hazel was born March 18, 1934 in Emmett, Idaho. She moved to Alaska in 1990 and lived in Anchorage and on the Kenai Peninsula.
Hazel loved animals, the outdoors, yellow roses, the ocean and hats, and Angels and hats.
"Hazel always placed her faith in Jesus and loved him dearly," her family wrote. "After many years of illness, Jesus came and took her hand and led her home. We celebrate her new life and grieve for her absence from ours."
Hazel was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna May; brother, Donald Bentley, Jr.; her parents, Donald and Viola Bentley Sr.; and a niece Roxie Herndon.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Viola Maker and Bob Giberson (of San Diego, Calif.); son, David Nielson (of Modesto, Calif.); granddaughter and spouse, Heather and Daryl Blackman (of Vista, Calif.); sister, Laura Trunnell; brother, Shannon Bentley (both of Ninilchik); sister, Hazel Emery (of Washington); and many nieces and nephews in Alaska, California and Kansas.
Memorial donations may be made to South Peninsula Hospital Long Term Care, 4300 Bartlett St., Homer, AK 99603.
Arrangements were by Peninsula Memorial Chapel and Crematory.
