Longtime Alaskan and Sterling resident Jackie "Ernie" Moody passed away Friday, April 20, 2018 at Heritage Place in Soldotna.

A celebration of his life will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at the Sterling Senior Center, 34453 Sterling Highway, Sterling.

Ernie was born in West Palm Beach, Florida. He moved to Alaska when he turned 19. He worked for Inlet Roofing, Garriss Roofing, which eventually became Stark-Lewis, Anchorage Roofing, the SeaLife Center, B.P., the Portage Visitor's Center and many other places around the state.

Ernie enjoyed camping, fishing, berry picking, landscaping, gardening and singing.

He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.

Ernie is survived by his wife, Brenda Moody of Sterling; sons, Tyler Moody of Sterling and Shawn Moody of Alaska; a granddaughter, Kaelin, of Alaska; sister, Elizabeth Chesi of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
