Soldotna resident Jacob Westly York, 24, died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012 at The University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle.
A Potluck/Celebration of his life will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012 at the Soldotna Sports Center in Soldotna. Please bring a dish if you would like to.
Mr. York was born October 6, 1987 in Quincy, Calif. Jake moved to Alaska in 1997 and lived in Soldotna. He worked for Ron's Honda Center in Soldotna from 2008 up until the present. Jake loved riding his dirt bike, snowmachining, rallying, and anything that went fast.
His family wrote, "Jake was loved by many, more than words can say. He loved his dirt bike and loved to go fast. Jake was an amazing person who had more courage than anyone we have ever known. Jake will always be loved and missed greatly."
He is survived by his wife, Bleu York, of Soldotna; mother, Victoria Humphrey, of Kasilof; brothers, Matthew York and his wife, Melissa of Kalifornsky Beach, Adam York and his wife, Cathy, of Reno, Nevada, and Josh York and his wife, Nicole, of Anderson, Calif.; cousin, Chris Foxen, of Reno, Nevada; step-father, Aaron Humphrey of Kasilof; half-brothers, Alton York of Reno, Nevada and Daniel York of Turlock, Calif.
