Sterling resident Jeffrey Thomas Clonts, 47, passed away Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017 in Sterling.

A celebration of his life will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at the Abundant Life Church, 32940 Sterling Highway in Sterling. Pastor Steve Harshman will officiate. Fellowship will follow the celebration at the Sterling Community Center, 38377 Swanson River Road, Sterling.

Jeff was born Dec. 12, 1969 in Canton, Ga. He graduated from Cherokee High School in 1987. He moved to Sterling in 2004 and had worked as a truck driver all over the U.S., for CH2MHill, and at Magpye's Pizzeria.

Jeff received the Golden Apple Award from the Kenai Peninsula School District, Outstanding Community Service Award from Central Emergency Services and the Kentucky Wounded Heroes Support Award.

He enjoyed mechanics, excavation, hunting, fishing, cutting firewood, antiques, farming and most of all using his hands to help others.

His family writes, "Jeffrey was a great son, father, uncle, soulmate, and friend. No matter how busy he was, he made time to do anything for his children. He taught them a lot along the way and will be missed beyond words and always loved. He was a man that would stop everything to help others. He cared about his neighbors and would step in and help without being asked. Jeffrey respected those that served, valued his southern heritage, believed in community and cherished his family."

Jeff was preceded in death by J.B. and Pauline Clonts, Christine Lawson Manous, Joe Esmond Manous, Rachel Clonts Denson, Billy Clonts and Nancy Pedersen.

He is survived by his parents, John Arvil and Joan (Manous) Clonts; siblings, Steven Clonts and wife, Lisa, and Christy Johnson and husband, Curtis; partner, Maggie Lupton; sons, Justin and Thomas Clonts; step-children, Brianna and Tristin Sipes; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Rather than flowers, the family asks to donate to a or do something good for a neighbor to honor Jeffrey's memory and support the Sterling Community he loved.
