Nikiski resident, Mrs. Joyce Elaine Kunkel-Riley, 58, died unexpectedly Saturday, April 21, 2012 in Nikiski.

A celebration of her life will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at the Kenai Elks Lodge, 205 Barnacle Way in Kenai.
Joyce was born May 30, 1953 in Spokane, Wash. She moved from Sandpoint, Idaho to Nikiski in 1989 with her family.
Her family wrote, "Joyce will always be remembered for her sweet sense of humor and her compassionate nature. She influenced numerous lives with her kind ideals and the motto 'To teach is to change a life forever.' She taught us many things, but 'the greatest of these is Love.' Your Legacy will live on forever."
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Lloyd Parham; and first husband, Thomas Kunkel.
She is survived by her husband, David Riley of Nikiski; daughters, Amber and her husband, Chris Uhls of Nikiski, and Alicia and her husband, John Kassik of Langley, Wash.; son, Adam Kunkel and his wife, Kerry of Nikiski; grandchildren, Justice Uhls, Jaylen Uhls, and Regan Kunkel; sister, Bonnie Humphrey; and nieces, Melissa Humphrey and Angela Craft.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel and Crematory.
