Lloyd T. Dyer, 89, of Kenai, went into the hands of the Lord at 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018 at Central Peninsula Hospital after a long battle with cancer.

There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Kenai Senior Center. Anyone wishing to attend is welcome.

Lloyd was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming on Oct. 28, 1928. He graduated from Cheyenne High School in 1946 and immediately enlisted in the Army where he served from 1946 to 1948 with the Occupational Forces in Japan.

After being honorably discharged from the Army, he worked as a grocer in various cities in Wyoming, Colorado, and South Dakota before being brought to Alaska by Carr's to manage the Aurora Village store in Anchorage in 1966. In 1968 he moved to Kenai to manage the original Carr's Store which later expanded to the Carr's Shopping Mall. He and his wife Penny owned Penny's Travel Agency from 1971 o 1986. In the 1980s he was in the construction business with his most notable projects being the Kenai Golf Course and the Willow Street Shopping Center.

The family wrote, "His life was good, and he was loved."

He was preceded in death by his first wife Penny Dyer; parents, Cecil and Myrtis Dyer; sister, Ruth Peters; and brother Orville Dyer.

He is survived by his wife Myrna; daughter and son-in-law, Claudia and Art Jackman; son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Toni Dyer; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Teena Dyer; daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Ken Cissell; 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
