Mary Kathryn Mallett, age 91 passed away May 11, 2018 at her home in Sterling, Alaska.

She was born on March 20, 1927 in Kansas City, Missouri to Forest Lee and Juanita (Davis) Chrisman. Mary called Alaska home since 1982, where she worked and retired from Perry Rubber. Granny (Mary) welcomed everyone she met with open arms. She was creative in sewing, knitting, cooking, and was an incredible grandmother to more than 30 grandchildren.

Mary was outdoorsy, adventurous and enjoyed camping with her family. She was known in our community as "Mrs. Claus." Carl and Mary played Mr. and Mrs. Claus for many years at local malls, schools, and senior centers. Mary was stubborn and ornery up until the day she went "home." She was looked up to and admired by her grandchildren, friends and almost everyone who met her. Granny (Mary) will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband Carleton Walter Mallett, Sr., and her son Carleton Walter Mallett, Jr.

She is survived by her daughters Juanita Kay Mallett Woodle of Sterling, AK, Jacqulyn Lynn Mallett Rodgers of New Philadelphia, OH, and Melanie Boston of Massillon, OH; sons Bradley Lee Mallett of Beach City, OH, Timothy Wayne Mallett of Sterling, AK, Chris Everett Mallett of Massillon, OH, Eric Scott Mallett of Sterling, AK and many grandchildren.

Natasha and Marissa Mallett will be officiating a celebration of Mary's life at the Sterling Senior Center in Sterling on July 1, 2018 at 3:30 p.m.
