Michael C. Gale. 78, of Kenai, Alaska departed peacefully after a long illness on March 8, 2018 at Central Peninsula Hospital Soldotna, Alaska.

Mike was born in Brooklyn, NY on June 21, 1939. He was the son of the late Paul and Anna Gale of Farmington, Connecticut. He is predeceased by his parents, sister Carol Ann, and brother David. He leaves brothers Robert Gale of Farmington, CT, William Gale of Burlington, CT, Stephen Gale of West Hartford, CT, Edward Gale of Chesterfield, VA, Leonard Gale of Plainville, CT and sisters Judith McRay of Harrodsburg, KY, Barbara Vernesoni of New Britain, CT, and Louise Barber of Cairo, GA. Mike's four children, Lisa, Michael, Lanya and Marie Ann, live in various locations in the northwest lower states.

Mike attended technical high school, served in the US Navy, was employed as a merchant marine and worked within different fields of the fishing industry in Alaska.

He loved fishing and hunting and other outdoor activities. The stories of his adventures were captivating. He lived in Alaska many years. At one point in time he considered relocating to Connecticut. After an attempt to adjust, he stated, "Alaska is a friendly place to live. In AK, if you are stuck on the side of the road people will offer help. In CT, hundreds will pass without helping."

Expressions of gratitude go to Mike's friend Thomas Nelson of Kenai whose integrity, empathy and loyalty helped Mike on a daily basis and to Andrea Miller, Case Manager/Care Coordinator whose diligent commitment ensured he was safe and able to live his last days at home as he desired.

Services are private.

In memory of Mike, perform an act of kindness towards another person.
