Mrs. Zimmer was born February 21, 1958, in Port Huron, Mich. She attended high school and later on received her GED. For years after she was born her family moved to Alaska where they lived in Anchorage, Juneau, Palmer, and Wasilla before making Nikiski her final residence. Norma worked for the State of Alaska for many years.
"Norma was fun loving and was always giving of herself. She lit a room with just a smile. Norma always saw the good in everyone and was self sacrificing no matter the result. Family was always a big part of her life, regardless if it was reciprocated. She had love for life and she felt comfort in knowing her sister Tammy and daughter Selenaanne was at her side. Norma is God's true angel. She will be missed by all. We all love you. Now you have peace," the family wrote.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James R. and Geraldine C. Craig and Raymond Baldwin her true love.
She is survived by her husband, Keith Zimmer of Nikiski; daughters, Lilalle Borland of Palmer, and Selenaanne Griswold of Palmer; sisters, Vivian Tomlinson of Wasilla, Tammy Merrill of Sterling, and Dawn Burnelle of Oklahoma; brothers, James Craig of Oklahoma and Earl Craig of Wrangell; several nieces and nephews and seven grandchildren.
